The Four's Teacher, Marilyn French
Marilyn French has been a teacher at Clarkston Co-op since
1994. She has
a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Hawaii and has
completed several masters’ level classes at Oakland University as a
reading specialist. Currently, Ms. French is president of the Teachers’
Association of the Greater Detroit Co-operative Nursery Council. She has
served in that post for four years and has previously held many other
positions on the Teachers’ Association board. Prior to teaching at
Clarkson Co-op, Ms. French taught for several years at another Michigan
co-operative preschool and in Hawaii at both the preschool and
elementary levels. All four of Ms. French’s children are co-op alumnae.
Presently, Ms. French teaches the 4AM & 4PM classes at Clarkston Co-op. |

The Parent/Tot and Three's Teacher, Karen Girard
Karen has been a teacher at Clarkston Co-op since 2005. Prior to teaching at Clarkson Co-op, Mrs. Girard enjoyed participating as a co-op parent and board member while her son attended Clarkston Co-op's 3's and 4's programs. She has an associate's degree in Child Development from College of the Canyons in Valencia, California and experience working with infants through preschool since 1985. Mrs. Girard is a member of the Greater Detroit Cooperative Preschool Teachers' Association and edits their newsletter, The SMILEMAKER. Working with young children and their families has been a lifelong passion. Karen believes that the coop model allows a beautiful relationship to develop, benefitting both the children and families of our community. Presently, Mrs. Girard teaches the 3's preschool and parent/tot classes at Clarkston Co-op.
